REVIEWS
Here's a selection of some reviews about us by customers and the press about Crown Inn:
"It`s a few miles drive from our home, but absolutely worth the journey.food excellent both from the carvery and off the menu.it`s great for me as my husband prefers taking me there rather than me cooking on a sunday!would definately recommend it to anyone who loves typical home cooked food in a very relaxed, friendly family run country pub." -review by Mr and Mrs Harding
"This is a wonderful pub in lovely surroundings run by efficient, friendly people who emit a caring welcome to all their customers. the landlords originally ran a pub the other side of bridgwater that had a fantastic reputation for food and especially their carvery on a sunday! they have since moved to the crown inn, a lovely country pub with a fantastic atmosphere and welcoming staff that nothing is to much trouble for. i have been a regular customer for a sunday carvery for many years now and have never had a meal i was dissatissfied with! the standards are so high and i am reluctant to go anywhere else if i eat out for sunday lunch. they have gone from strength to strength in the time i have been a customer, and you see the same old faces reappearing so i know there are many others tht will share my views. i have taken many friends and family to the crown inn and they in turn have returned with more new customers in tow! give it a try.....you wont be dissapointed! i know i never am!" -review by Nichola Sackley
"I have just returned from a terrific cruise, with amazing food. The talk on the ship was all about the celebrity chefs Bistro special "to die for" sticky toffee pudding, yes it was lovely but I'm sorry Mr Martin, if you want a "to live for" sticky toffee pudding then the place to go is The Crown Inn at Catcott. they do the most incredible desserts ever and not at all small!!" -review by Mrs Marcia Tutton
"We can recommend a friendly welcome, relaxed atmosphere and excellent home cooked food. " -review by Tony and Kerry May
"Although we live 300 miles away, this pub feels like our local! Whenever there is a family celebration or get together we always head to The Crown. We never fail to receive a warm welcome and the food is fantastic - the steak is cooked to perfection and "melt in the mouth". On the rare occassion when I have been able to fit in a pudding they have to be seen (and tasted) to be believed. We have small children who are always made welcome, are respected and the staff go out of their way to help. Roll on the next celebration...!!" -review by Sally
"We eat here on a regular basis, the food & warm welcome is second to none. Steaks are cooked to perfection & all desserts are HUGE and home made. Sunday carvery is a must, the selection of meats & vegetable are fabulous. All meals are reasonably priced and of execllent quality. It's rare to find a pub which is so welcoming & delivers fantastic quality. It's a must visit." -review by Tanya
"We whent last week for a meal great food..we had fish pie was fab..will be back again soon.xx" -review by Bell
"Walked in the door and was hit by the smell of good fresh fish cooking. We shared a goats cheese and caramilsed onion puff pastry tart to start and what a good job we shared as the main course portions were very generous. Chose the Irish tatties (fresh trout, potato and spring onion fish cakes) that were homemade and superbly fresh. Perfectly cooked real chips (choice of other potatoes and veg avaialabe). I'm told the cod in beer batter and chips was great. The cod came up from Brixham and the trout was caught locally - we couldnt have asked for better. A great pub with a lovely atmosphere and if you want to feel a bit more "restauranty" then sit in the restaurant area to the right of the bar. Good service, good hosts, great food. Would go again and eat the same, but there is lots more to try. Sensibly not a massive menu, but plenty on there to make me go "oooh" and if it means that the standard stays as high, then I'm all for it. Specials board with well, how can I describe it, special food! Looking forward to next time." -review by Lorna Davies

"Recently dined out at this most excellent pub for a birthday celebration. A varied menu which caters for all tastes and is good value for money. The staff are absolutely billiant. Their Sunday carvery is not to be missed, a great selection of veggies and always a selection of meats. Great atmosphere - a real pub!! " -review by Sheila Banfield

"I recently had two evening meals at 'The Crown' and was hosting on both occasions - early April 2009. What a nice surprise it was to find excellent food, nice cozy pub ambiance served in a clean enviroment by a professional waiter. The menu consisted of a good smattering of English favorites with a dollop of foreign influence. One of my guests had a chicken curry, another a beautifully cooked Dover sole (I was quite jealous I hadn't chosen it!) and I had the Gammon which was garnished with a nice chunk of fresh pineapple. The chips were done to perfection - homemade, crispy and hot, veg not over-cooked and the meringue dessert with ice-cream, whipped cream and raspberries was one of the best desserts I've ever tasted. Quite scrumptious. The Crown is located on the outskirts of this beautiful Somerset village overlooking the Sedge Moor - a lovely place to have dinner. Try it, you won't be disappointed. "Very good. Took some friends out for the evening they were very impressed with the food. will go back again there was so much to choose from the menu. My husband and frinds were meat and fish eaters and me being a vegetarian was surprised how much chioce we had. " -review by Debbie
"Friendly welcome and lovely food. Monkfish dish excellent and Rump steak exceptionally tender and full of flavour." -review by Sally Taylor
"After reading Ned Halley's review about the Crown Inn in The Western Daily Press, my Husband and I decided to visit with our grandchild and what a warm welcome we received! The menu and specials board looked lovely and the lady behind the bar stated it was all homecooked and couldnt decide what to eat - I had the Chef's special Steak Anneliese (fantastic) and my husband had Beef and Butcombe Pie and when it came what a great meal we had and the flavours were fantastic and yes you could really tell it was homecooked and not out of the freezer! We sat in front of the roaring log fire and heard alot of compliments going back to the staff. We shall be visiting again as it is the best pub for food, beer and atmosphere in the south west. 10/10!!" -review by Rebecca
"My wife and I have been eating at The Crown at Catcott, on a weekly basis for the last 12 months. During that time I can say that we have always been made extremly welcome at each visit; we have always enjoyed the excellent selection of dishes on the menu, the steaks being the best we have ever eaten! On top of this we have always enjoyed a selection of first class wines to suit the occasion.I would not hesitate in recommending this restaurant to anyone who enjoys first class food, well cooked, and in a friendly atmosphere." -review by Malcolm NEALE

"I have visited this pub many times for evening meals and the famous Sunday carvery. I have always been delighted with the incredibly high standard of food and service provided. The extensive range of culinary excellence has had me returning time after time. The staff always do everything possible to make my visit enjoyable and are always consistent. The landlords always have a fabulous attitude towards us and a clear relationship with local patrons; other pubs should envy such perfection. I give this pub a clear 10/10!" -review by Andrew
